The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) arrested an alleged drug dealer from the Dominican Republic on Thursday during a raid at a Winthrop motel.

In the afternoon, MDEA agents executed a search warrant at the motel following a month-long investigation into fentanyl and cocaine trafficking.

The investigation involved undercover purchases of drugs by agents.

During the warrant execution, agents allegedly seized 180 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of fentanyl, along with $1,660 in suspected drug proceeds.

The drugs seized had an estimated street value of $20,000.

Agents also arrested Jorge Luis Franco Mejia, of the Dominican Republic.

He was charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine and fentanyl. He was transported to the Kennebec County Jail, where he is being held on a $100,000 bail.

The Maine Wire spoke with the jail on Friday, and officials confirmed that Franco Mejia remains in custody and has not been placed on an immigration detainer.

Jail officials failed to provide The Maine Wire with a booking photo upon request.

Youโ€™d think he stuck out like a soar thumb in Winthrop .
But maybe not being a suburb of Manchester which is Bellowsโ€™ neighborhood .
Our druggie problems will disappear if Bobby Charles wins the election .
It will get worse if any of the democrats win .

A rule of thumb while traveling is that the motels with doors directly to the exterior rather than interior hallways are favored by drug sellers/buyers. Even so, if you’re traveling in unfamilar territory hotels that accept vouchers for the homeless can be hard to identify until you’re there trying to sleep.
