The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office arrested a Knox woman on Monday on charges of arson and attempted murder after she allegedly set a residence on fire with two people and several dogs in the house.

At approximately 10:43 p.m. on Monday, a 911 caller reported a fire at a home at 1647 Bailey Road in Knox.

The Knox Fire Department responded along with Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The home’s residents were able to suppress the fire with water and a fire extinguisher before first responders arrived, and the blaze was largely contained to a single bedroom.

The suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire led deputies to notify fire marshals, who determined that the fire had allegedly been set intentionally.

Investigators arrested Gessica Allsop, 41, who had been staying temporarily at the residence.

She was transported to the Waldo County Jail, where she is being held without bail.

She faces two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder, along with charges of arson and violating conditions of release.

The two other occupants of the home were evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation.

There were multiple dogs in the home at the time of the fire as well.

They’re also are a lot of parking lots that just as a driveway and you turn left coming out of one of those restaurants or something, you’re going the wrong way on Route 1, a six lane divided highway.
