At approximately 9:37 a.m., the Maine State Police responded to a report of domestic violence on Oak Point Road in Trenton.

Troopers arrived to discover that the male suspect had allegedly fled the scene, possibly in possession of multiple explosive devices. The female victim was found uninjured.

Later, troopers located the suspect’s vehicle at his home on Bar Harbor Road in Trenton.

Law enforcement secured the area and requested assistance from the Maine State Police Bomb Squad and the Maine State Fire Marshal.

The investigation allegedly led to the discovery of “several” IEDs along with the materials to construct them.

The explosives were “rendered safe” by Bomb Squad.

Troopers arrested Anthony Nickerson, 43, of Trenton without incident.

He was charged with domestic violence assault, possession of firearms by a prohibited person, arson, and criminal use of explosives.

Police provided no details on how Nickerson incurred the arson charge, or the suspected motives behind his alleged bomb construction.
