If you’ve got a can of rat poison out in the barn, guard it with your life.

The rodenticide is now illegal across Maine.

The Board of Pesticide Control has voted to ban its sale, action in keeping with LD 356.

The law, which the Legislature adopted last year, directed the board to prohibit the consumer use of rodenticides.

The measure is designed to prevent the spread of chemical toxins often found in owls, eagles, pets, and other non-targeted wildlife, according to the Maine Audubon Society.

The board’s vote Friday means hardware stores will have to pull the rodenticides from their shelves.

Online retailers will also have to stop shipping the chemicals to Maine consumers by June 15.

These pesticides are effective because rodents lack the ability to vomit. Household pets can vomit so accidental poisoning is somewhat limited. Household products like D-Con will also be banned.
If you’ve ever had to have a wiring harness in a vehicle replaced due to rodent damage it can cost upwards of $6,000.
I’d suggest stocking up online – it takes the rest of the suppliers time to comply if they’re located out of state.

Various soon-to-be banned products are still available at Amazon. Maine BPC banned consumer sale of Imidacloprid a few years ago. This product can protect individual ash trees from the Emerald Ash Borer plus many other damaging insects.
The concern about Imidacloprid is possible impact on pollinators; however intelligent use and timing can all but eliminate unintended targets. It’s based on a nicotine formula.

I personally think this is a total BS excuse for politicians to bow down or bend over as the case maybe, to kiss the back side of those undocumented CDL drivers and there families as well as others who believe in worshiping Rats.

Particularly Those from a little filthy country called India who has one of the dirtiest rivers in the world who belief bathing in that river is a Holy thing to do.

THANK YOU Mr Cohen for alerting us about this .

It should last us for many future years .
Question : Can you be from Maine and still LOVE Amazon ?

If this is retail sales only then it is another burden on families, who will now have to hire pest control companies to put the same types of chemicals out.
