The Maine-schooled skier who has won more races than any U.S. male in history is facing drug charges.
Bode Miller, 48, was arrested in Idaho on charges of possession of a controlled substance and another for possession of drug paraphernalia, People.com reports.
Miller was found with 4.1 grams of psilocybin, commonly known as hallcinogenic mushroom, per a police affidavit obtained by TMZ.
The famed skier was released on a $5,000 cash bond.
Miller has pleaded not guilty, per the court records.
He has won six Olympic and 79 World Cup medals.
Miller won gold at his fourth Olympics, the 2010 Vancouver Games, and bronze in Sochi four years later.
He honed his board skills as a teen at Carrabassett Valley Academy, a ski-racing school in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, that has trained some of the world’s most successful skiers.
The academy, established in 1982, is at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain.
Since its founding, the school has produced twelve Olympians, winners of 92 U.S. national titles, eleven X-Games competitors, 26 NCAA and USCSA All-Americans, 39 U.S. national team members and six world champions.
Besides Miller, another of its most-accomplished alumni include Seth Wescott, 2006 and 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist in snowboard cross.
Miller, arguably the school’s best-known graduate, is the only U.S. male skier to win races in all five major disciplines.
He also holds the record for most Olympic medals for a U.S. male skier, including gold in the super combined.
