Northern Maine woodsman Troy Jackson looked ready for prime time at Thursday night’s Democrat U.S. Senate debate, while Secretary of State Shenna Bellows came off as halting and nervous.
Judging from online comments, YouTube viewers watching the WCSH-moderated debate thought Jackson won the night hands down.
Former Center for Disease Control director Nirav Shaw and Jordan Wood kept awkwardly looking down at their notes during opening statements, clearly unprepared.
Wood looked about as unsure of himself as his on-again, off-again on-again candidacy, in one day, out the next, then back in.
The dress-wearing Ashley Webb, a trans female, was notable for saying he/she should be able to use women’s bathrooms.
Bellows claimed she’s the natural default for ousted Graham Platner since she has run already once before (2014) against five-term GOP Sen. Susan Collins.
Former state senate president Jackson looked the most relaxed, folksy, confident and extemporaneous, making it no wonder YouTubers overwhelmingly picked him as the winner.
He escaped without ever being asked about allegedly faking his legal residency on a federal housing loan application.
The debate loser was a phantom TV producer who forgot to put the candidates’ names on the lecterns, leaving viewers not familiar with the contestants unsure who was on their screens.
The moderators asked the candidates what each would take from Platner’s playbook.
The answers were about as ridiculous and non-specific as the question.
A key question the moderators failed to ask was whether the poll-leading Platner, who quit the race despite winning the primary after a woman accused him of rape, should now be prosecuted for gross sexual assault.
It should have been the question right out of the box despite Platner having insisted he never raped anyone – even though he withdrew from the contest without ever mentioning in his resignation letter exactly why he suddenly decided he wasn’t fit as a candidate in a primary he won by a whopping 70 percent.
Platner quit the race earlier this month, five days after a former girlfriend came out of the woodwork to claim in a national interview he raped her five years ago.
The candidate conspicuously missing from the stage was Janet Mills, the two-term-limited governor who dropped out of the primary for lack of support before the votes were even counted.
The 78-year-old tired Mills was the darling of the Democrat establishment until she got shaded by a bearded Nazi-tattooed 41-year-old oyster hobbyist ex-Marine misogynist sexting-while-married internet troll named Graham Platner.

“ You can’t make this stuff up .”
You can tell when she’s lying, her lips are moving
Ashley Webb’s rendition of Paradise by the Dashboard Light is spot on.
My advice to the candidates is keep your arms out straight to make it harder for them to put the net over you.If you took the best part of each of their brains and made one brain and implanted it in a pigeon the poor bird would fly backwards.
Their little podiums say ” Voice of the people “. Is that some kind of joke? This group was embarrassing for Maine, and, under the spotlight of the whole nation. No doubt they all high 5’d each other after it was over.
The real woman wore pants, while the fake one wore a dress.
Oh, Brave New World….
Oh my god this is such a ridiculous spectacle…it’s horrifying really….it’s like a tent revival side show nightmare to chose the biggest turd to lead the little turds…so all the turds can be one big happy turd family
Annnnd the money keeps flowing for this turd factory…….these turds care about “working mainers”, whatever the f that means, about as much as a fat kid likes kale.
