At approximately 11:02 a.m., the department’s criminal division executed a search warrant secured for the person and vehicle of Michael Clapp, 30, of Norridgewock.
The warrant was obtained following months of investigation into drug trafficking activities in the area.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop and searched the vehicle. They allegedly discovered 324 grams of fentanyl, a small amount of cocaine, digital scales, drug-related paraphernalia and documentation, and $180 in suspected drug proceeds.
Clapp was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, possession of scheduled drugs, and violation of conditions of release. He was out on bail for unrelated criminal charges at the time of the arrest.
While deputies were executing the warrant, Clapp experienced a possibly self-inflicted medical event, and he was transported to Redington-Fairview General Hospital for treatment.
He is set to appear in court on October 7.
Additional charges may follow after the case is reviewed by the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office.
Clapp does not currently appear in Somerset County Jail records, and it is not clear whether he has been released from the hospital.
