The Oxford Sheriff’s Department responded on Tuesday after a man allegedly attacked two people in a domestic violence incident and stole the female victim’s car before crashing it.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., the Oxford Sheriff’s Department, Otisfield Police Department, Otisfield Rescue, and the Cumberland Sheriff’s Department all responded to a reported domestic violence incident on Route 121 in Otisfield.
The report claimed that a woman was in significant distress.
Deputies arrived and determined that the incident allegedly involved two victims, and that the female victim’s car had been stolen and crashed.
Law enforcement identified the suspect as a 45-year-old Otisfield man and found that he allegedly attacked the woman with a weapon, sliced her hand, and strangled her before she fled the residence.
She ran into the street to flag down people for assistance.
A man stopped to help her and was also allegedly attacked by the assailant while trying to defend the woman.
The man was able to enter his car and flee, and the suspect reportedly stole the female victim’s car and crashed it nearby.
The crash left the suspect with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and he was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
The female victim was treated at the scene and released, and the male victim was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing, and law enforcement expects to have arrest warrants for the suspect soon, though his hospitalization and medical condition may delay his arrest.
He is expected to face charges of domestic violence aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, obstructing the report of a crime or injury, domestic violence terrorizing, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, terrorizing, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and criminal OUI.
The Oxford Sheriff’s Department is withholding the suspect’s name for unspecified reasons.
