The Kennebunk Police Department arrested a 75-year-old man on Thursday following an alleged domestic violence incident involving a firearm.

At approximately 8:24 p.m., the Kennebunk Police Department responded to a residence on Caly Hollow Road after receiving a 911 call reporting a domestic violence incident.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the alleged victim, who reported that the suspect was possibly under the influence of substances and had access to multiple firearms.

She also claimed that the suspect prevented her from calling law enforcement during the domestic incident.

After speaking with the witness, officers established a perimeter around the home and attempted to make contact with the resident.

Multiple attempts to reach him by phone allegedly failed, but officers confirmed that he was still inside.

The Maine State Police Southern Maine Special Response Team responded to assist.

After the team’s arrival, they were able to induce the resident to come out of the house and surrender.

Following the investigation, the suspect was identified as Walter Hearn, 75, of Kennebunk.

He was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, and obstructing the report of a crime.
