In the early morning, the town hall was opening when the town assessor’s office received an email alerting them to a bomb threat against the town hall.
Kennebunk Fire and Rescue, which is in the same building as the town hall, received a similar email.
In response to the threat, the Town Hall was evacuated and closed for the rest of the day, and police were notified.
The Maine State Police responded to assist with explosive-detecting K-9s to search the area.
The search of the building ultimately did not reveal any explosives.
Police have since contacted FBI Portland for assistance, because the threat reportedly originated out of state.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no suspect has been arrested in connection with the threats.
