Maine is continuing its trend of hosting sexually explicit LGBT “pride month” events for an audience of young children, this time in Bangor.
“Excitement is in the air! Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for – Bangor Pride! Join us at 11 AM in Downtown Bangor for a day of celebration, love, and unity. Let’s make this the best Pride yet,” said the organizer Bangor Pride, in a Facebook post featuring an image of a pride parade which includes small children.
The pride celebration, which took place on Saturday, featured a parade, a “pride outfit contest,” and, of course, a drag show, none of which were restricted by age, despite the inherently sexualized nature of the events and performances.
Bangor Pride also held its “Rainbow Awards,” which feature a slew of awards assigned to different colors, with the Black award going to people who demonstrate “racial justice,” the Brown award going for “immigrant justice,” and other awards going for various other topics, including environmentalism.
While intended to promote the LGBT community, the events were a hodgepodge of traditional far left interest groups — complete with corporate sponsorships.
Very few attendees appeared concerned about the apparent contradiction between waving a “Free Palestine” banner at an LGBT event and the notoriously barbaric treatment members of the LGBT community receive in most Middle Eastern countries, other than Israel.
The event drew online attention from across the country when X user Libs of Tiktok posted images of from the parade showing an overweight drag queen preforming for children, and another image of someone in what is appears to be female genitalia with a “they/them” pronoun label.
The event was celebrated by left-wing Maine media outlets, including the Bangor Daily News and News Center Maine, which did not find the presence of young children at the event newsworthy or controversial.
One of the performers at the event, the drag queen who goes by the name of Carrie The One, describes himself as “your bearded bestie,” has previously performed for the University of Maine, and has a “Free Palestine” page prominently displayed on his website.
The drag performer previously participated in a 2020 drag queen story time online in collaboration with the Orono Public Library, where he dressed as a woman and read a book called What Makes Us Unique? Our First Talk About Diversity aimed at small children.
Footage of the Bangor event from News Center Maine shows many young children, some in strollers, parading alongside, or watching parade participants dressed in explicitly sexual clothing or costumes.
The event was supported and attended by various businesses, non-profits, local churches, and government institutions.
It was attended by representatives of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Maine, where U.S. attorney Darcie McElwee expressed her office’s support for the event.
“It’s really important that they understand that we’re here to support them, to protect them, that we want to pass out materials to share with them how to report hate crimes, how to define a hate crime,” said McElwee speaking to WABI5, “We also want to send the message to individuals who may mistreat them or harass or discriminate that that is not tolerated by our offices.”
Bangor Pride put on its event in conjunction with Maine’s Health Equity Alliance, which received $346,554 in taxpayer-funded grants in 2022, according to the nonprofits most recent Form 990 tax filings.
The event also partnered with prominent organizations such as the Hannaford grocery store chain, Versant Power, Bangor Savings Bank, Northern Light Health, and the Maine AARP.

One of the reasons I stopped doing business with Bangor Savings and refuse to go to Hannaford.
Hannaford was also one of the companies that helped push through the kidnapping, child mutilation bill.
Any parent that is with their child under the age of 16 at this event should be charged with child endangerment and prosecuted.
These people are insane and need treatment, not encouragement. Our children are being exploited by the asylum inmates. If you need proof, the passage of LD 227 says it all!
Hannaford just lost a customer. Bangor was once our shopping place, no longer. Have not dealt with Bangor Savings in years, suspect Al Castorline in no longer President. But when my power provider goes over to the queers, I am pretty much stuck.
What are parents thinking when they bring children to freak shows like this?
These people should be charged with child abuse along with the parents that brought them. Did the crowd that showed up, which was bigger than I thought would be, do so in support or just to see a good freak show.
A pastor I follow on various social media outlets encourages all Christians to go to Pride parades. That way we can see the uncensored debauchery of the lost firsthand, as media outlets will never show what really goes on when they report on Pride parades.
