Two people were arrested on Monday after fleeing from a theft and leading police on a multi-town chase.
Brunswick Police say they received a tip shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday about a red pickup truck that was fleeing from a theft that had occurred in Sagadahoc County.
Police say an officer spotted the pickup truck a short time later traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 1 south near Route 196.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, and the truck came to a brief stop on Mill Street before speeding away with police in pursuit.
The truck proceeded onto Pleasant Hill Road and into Freeport, where police temporarily paused their pursuit due to safety concerns.
Police say additional calls came in regarding the red truck, and officers were able to locate the vehicle back in Brunswick, again on Pleasant Hill Road.
Police continued to pursue the vehicle onto Durham Road and into Durham, where according to police the truck went off road and became stuck in the mud.
The two occupants in the vehicle were arrested.
The driver, 31-year-old Stone Perry of Winthrop, faces a slew of charges, including eluding and officer, passing a roadblock, aggravated criminal mischief, possession of fentanyl (warrant arrest), driving to endanger and other misdemeanor level traffic violations.

Perry was evaluated by Brunswick Rescue for minor injuries before being taken to Cumberland County Jail. He has an initial court date of Aug. 8 in Cumberland County Superior Court.
The passenger, identified by police as 42-year-old Chad Souchek of Gray, was detained by Brunswick Police and was later transferred to the custody of the the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office. Souchek was also treated for minor injuries at the scene.
