A Biddeford man has been arrested on charges of aggravated drug trafficking following a two-month investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Biddeford Police Department.
Authorities identified 28-year-old Brandon Gelsomini as the primary suspect in drug activity reported near an encampment by the railroad tracks along James Street. Investigators obtained a judicial search warrant for Gelsomini’s tent, which was executed early Wednesday morning due to its proximity to Biddeford High School.
At approximately 7 a.m. on October 29, MDEA agents, Biddeford Police, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and the York County Sheriff’s Department searched the encampment and took Gelsomini into custody on an unrelated arrest warrant.
During the search, agents seized 120 grams of fentanyl, 21 grams of powdered cocaine, and five grams of crack cocaine, along with other items associated with drug trafficking. A loaded shotgun and about $7,000 in suspected drug proceeds were also recovered. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of $14,000.
Gelsomini was charged with Class A aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs within a school zone and possession of a firearm, as well as violating bail conditions. He is being held without bail at York County Jail pending a court appearance on October 31.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are expected. Multiple agencies assisted with the warrant service, including the Saco and Old Orchard Beach police departments, Biddeford Fire Department, and Biddeford Code Enforcement.
Authorities emphasized their continued commitment to targeting drug trafficking networks across Maine.
