FAIRFIELD, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating the death of a 46-year-old Oakland man who was found on the side of the road in Fairfield Saturday morning.

Fairfield Police said they received a 911 call at approximately 8:57 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, reporting a male on Martin Stream Road who was not breathing. Officers responded and contacted the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central after determining the man was deceased.

State Police detectives and evidence technicians responded and worked throughout the day conducting interviews and gathering evidence, according to authorities.

The deceased has been identified as Jason Grant, 46, of Oakland. He was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will be conducted in the coming days.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area of Martin Stream Road in Fairfield and/or Norridgewock on Friday night or early Saturday morning and who may have information that could assist investigators to contact Maine State Police at 207-624-7076.
