Rex Heuermann has now copped to having murdered eight women, including a Scarborough mother.
Heuermann was arrested three years ago in a string of Gilgo Beach, N.Y., killings that shocked Long Island for more than a decade.
He was set for trial this fall but for unexplained reasons decided to admit to the killings.
His lawyer claimed Wednesday his client wanted to spare the victims’ families the trauma of trials.
So apparently a cold blooded serial killer suddenly got religion – and he hasn’t even been sentenced yet.
He must have found a Bible in the prison where he’s been sitting waiting for trial.
Under questioning by Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, Heuermann admitted that he strangled all eight victims and dismembered some of them, that he used burner phones to contact them, and that he wrapped their bodies in burlap before dumping them.
Waterman, 22, born and raised in South Portland and Scarborough, saw her early years marked by a tumultuous family life and teenage run-ins with the law.
She reportedly turned to prostitution as a means of supporting her young daughter and tragically that’s how she eventually became one of Hueurmannโs victims.
