Fenway welcomed back legendary 42-season announcer Joe Castiglione earlier this week to call a game for old time’s sake.
WEEI featured a special Facebook reel of Castiglione back up in the broadcast booth high above the diamond.
Castiglione became famous for calling four World Series championships, including the historic 2004 victory.
He retired from a full-time, regular-season schedule after the 2024 season, but remains a Boston Red Sox ambassador, and plans to call a handful of games this season.
Castiglione was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame and received the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award two years ago.
He called more than 6,500 games for the Sox, including 112 postseason games, starting with the team in 1983.
Joe The Voice is known for his famous 2004 call: “Can you believe it?” He is considered the voice of a generation for Red Sox fans.

Is that woman a Chinese weed dealer?!?
There is something weird about that picture, almost like the heads were Photoshopped onto the bodies, and the heads, particularly his, look just slightly too big for the bodies. Could it be some funky camera angle or something?
I still remember the call of the final World Series game in 2004. “Ground ball stabbed by Foulke. He throws over to first and for the first time in 86 years the Boston Red Sox are the world champions of baseball. Can you believe it?”, Probably my favorite announcer other than the late Harry Kalas of the Philadelphia Phillies.
