A group of seven Lewiston juveniles were arrested last week after they were allegedly caught on camera ganging up to beat a single victim the same week police dealt with a string of shootings.

On Wednesday, the Lewiston Police Department became aware of a video circulating on social media depicting what appeared to be a violent attack.

In the video, police allegedly saw a group of several juvenile males attacking a single victim.

The incident was not reported to police at the time, but they launched an immediate investigation upon learning about the video.

The District Attorney’s Office and the Juvenile Community Corrections Officers assisted in the investigation and arrested five suspects on Wednsday.

All five were charged with aggravated assault and transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center.

On Friday, investigators arrested two additional juvenile suspects and charged them with aggravated assault.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police have provided few specifics on the incident due to the involvement of minors.

The incident comes as a string of shootings last week has placed greater scrutiny on the city’s crime epidemic.

Cops are crawling all over the place around the park on Bartlett St in Lewiston, after reports of shots fired.

There have reportedly been multiple shootings in Lewiston today.
