At approximately 7:30 a.m., Somerset Deputy Adam Eastbrook received a report of a missing 13-year-old from a Madison home.
During the investigation, he learned that the minor had left the residence on foot during the night.
Later that morning, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Eastbrook responded to a reported break-in at the Madison Junior High School.
Eastbrook learned that the missing juvenile, along with two others, ages 12 and 15, allegedly entered the school through the roof at around 2:00 a.m., along with Daxton Winchester, 24, of Madison.
The school was found undamaged, though the Sheriff’s Department provided no details on what the suspects were allegedly doing in the school.
The 13- and 15-year-olds have been charged with criminal trespass, and the Juvenile Community Corrections Officer will be notified of their charges.
The department did not specify whether they were transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center or simply released into their parents’ custody.
The 12-year-old was identified, and, according to the release issued on Wednesday, deputies are still attempting to make contact with the child’s family.
Winchester was also charged with criminal trespass. It is not clear whether he was arrested or simply issued a criminal summons, but he does not appear in Somerset County Jail records.
It appears that, if he was arrested, he has since been released, since he was posting on Facebook as recently as Wednesday.
The department also did not include details on why a 24-year-old man was allegedly out breaking into a middle school with three children at 2:00 a.m.
Winchester reportedly has a long history of arrests, having allegedly been arrested on charges of criminal trespass, criminal invasion of computer privacy, burglary, and violating conditions of release in November 2025, violating conditions of release in December 2025, and violating conditions of release again in April 2026.
