A 22-year-old New Hampshire mother was arrested on assault charges on Thursday after her infant was discovered with multiple suspicious injuries.
On Tuesday, the NH Division for Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) notified Keene, NH, police detectives of an infant under one year old who had been brought to a local hospital with suspicious injuries.
The medical examination revealed that the child was suffering from several fractures at various stages of healing.
Detectives launched an investigation to determine the cause of the injuries.
The investigation led detectives to suspect the child’s mother, Jade Galford, 22, of Keene.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Galford and took her into custody on Thursday.
She was charged with second-degree assault and was held without bail at the Cheshire County House of Corrections.
The investigation remains ongoing.
