WARREN, Maine – Three people were transported to the hospital after an early-morning fire broke out Thursday at a multi-unit rental building in Warren.

Warren Fire and Rescue responded to 288 Main Street at approximately 6:00 a.m. on April 30, 2026, for a reported structure fire.

The building, which is divided into three rental units, is believed to be the oldest structure in that area of Warren. All three units were occupied at the time of the fire, but all occupants were able to escape.

Three occupants from the unit affected by the fire were transported by ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center.

One female suffered minor smoke inhalation. A second female sustained minor injuries after jumping from a second-floor window to escape the building. One male suffered smoke inhalation and was later transferred to Maine Medical Center for additional treatment.

All three injured victims have since been released from the hospital.

Investigators determined that the fire originated in the first-floor living room, specifically on the couch. The cause of the fire is believed to be the careless use of smoking materials.
