The fire department responded to reports of an injured person, and arrived to discover that the victim was trapped inside the forward section of the vehicle’s garbage container.
Responders believe that the person was sleeping in a dumpster that was then unloaded into the truck.
The department’s Technical Rescue Team was deployed, and the incident was upgraded to a technical rescue response, drawing more department resources to the scene.
Emergency medical personnel were able to begin treatment before the victim was freed from the truck.
The technical team “packaged” and removed the patient, who was transported to the Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment.
The fire department did not specify the extent of the victim’s injuries or whether drugs were believed to be involved.
