The Portland Police Department arrested a man on Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed a man in the back on the street and was found with five active arrest warrants.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., a Portland officer was patrolling the area of Portland and Hanover Streets when he observed a disturbance and responded.
He arrived at the disturbance to discover a 23-year-old man who said that he had been stabbed in the back.
The victim was transported to the Maine Medical Center for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after discovering the victim, police located Patrick Brando, 34, of Portland, who was identified as a suspect.
Brando was arrested and charged with elevated aggravated assault, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and violating conditions of release.
Police also discovered that Brando was subject to five outstanding arrest warrants. Police did not specify how Brando incurred the outstanding warrants.
He was transported to the Cumberland County jail. Brando does not currently appear in jail records, and police did not release a mugshot.
