The Rumford Police Department arrested a woman on Tuesday after she allegedly attacked her live-in boyfriend with a kitchen knife.

At approximately 1:32 a.m., Rumford officers responded to a 911 call at 497 Virgin Street from a man reporting that he had been stabbed by his girlfriend.
Officers arrived to discover a 28-year-old man suffering from a slash wound to his left hand and provided emergency first aid.
MedCare Ambulance personnel arrived on the scene and treated the man on the scene.
Officers continued the investigation and determined that the victim and his live-in girlfriend, Clarixsa Velez, 28, of Rumford, got into an argument while drinking alcohol.
The argument reportedly became physical when Velez allegedly threw a plate of food at her boyfriend, then retrieved a kitchen knife.
She allegedly attacked her boyfriend with the knife and slashed his hand when he raised his arms to defend himself.
Velez was arrested and transported to the Oxford County Jail, where she is being held without bail. She faces a charge of domestic violence aggravated assault.
