Police first obtained an indictment warrant for Matthew Moscillo, 38, of Biddeford, on June 5, charging him with gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact, and unlawful sexual touching.

The charges stemmed from a 2025 incident, but police did not provide details on the alleged crime.

On Thursday, the Scarborough Criminal Investigation Division and Special Enforcement Unit began surveilling Moscillo’s place of employment in Falmouth with assistance from the Falmouth Police Department.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., officers saw Moscillo arrive at the business and attempted to take him into custody.

He allegedly physically resisted arrest and injured several officers before he was eventually subdued.

He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where he was charged with refusing to submit to arrest or detention with force causing injury in addition to the charges stemming from the alleged sexual assault.
