Biddeford Mayor Issues New Statement Criticising ICE for Lack of Body Cameras, Demanding Permanent End to ICE Vehicle Stops

Biddeford Mayor Liam LaFountain demanded a permanent end to ICE traffic stops and questioned why ICE agents were not wearing body cameras during the fatal Monday shooting of Joan Sebastian Guerrero, 26, of Colombia, in a new Wednesday statement.

[RELATED: Trump Reverses Course on Ending ICE Traffic Stops in Truth Social Post Praising the Agency…]

“A central issue in this incident has become the lack of body cameras on those agents. That is totally unacceptable. I know both Senator Collins and Senator King are forcefully pressing this issue with DHS Secretary Mullin,” said LaFountain.

“In Biddeford, our police officers are fully equipped with body cameras. The department’s annual budget is less than $10 million, and they’ve had these cameras in the field for almost a decade. The fact that ICE is swimming in billions of taxpayer dollars and can’t perform a basic function like properly equipping their people is a severe indictment,” he added.

In the new statement, LaFountain said that the city has been providing assistance to the family of Guerrero and that he had personally visited their neighbors.

He said he was told by Sen. Susan Collins that ICE was halting traffic stops, and he expressed a hope that the halt would be permanent.

That portion of LaFountain’s statement was already outdated when it was released, because President Donald Trump reinstated ICE’s ability to stop vehicles on Wednesday morning.

He demanded a transparent investigation with involvement from state law enforcement, and asked for more details on the agent who shot Guerrero.

He also highlighted the city’s new partnership with the Saco-based Sweetser to provide mental health assistance to Guerrero’s family and friends.

LaFountain’s statement did not include any new details on the shooting itself or any information on the status of the investigation.

Unlike many agitators on the left, LaFountain’s initial statement on the shooting was a measured recognition of the loss of life while calling on people to be patient in waiting for details on the shooting.

“In Biddeford, our police officers are fully equipped with body cameras. The department’s annual budget is less than $10 million, and they’ve had these cameras in the field for almost a decade.

If the mayor truly believes this, someone should audit the books of his city!

Maybe things are different in Biddeford, but elsewhere in the public sector, one can only spend money from various budget lines for things authorized for that line item to be spent on, e.g. pay for pay and equipment for equipment.

If the Dems hadn’t twice shut down DHS procurement last year, THEY WOULD’VE HAD THOSE CAMERAS.

And if Joan Sebastian Guerrero had stopped for the police as opposed to trying to run them over, he’d be alive today like Brittany Wood is BECAUSE SHE STOPPED FOR THE POLICE RATHER THAN TRYING TO RUN AN OFFICER OVER…..

Don’t try to kill cops and you won’t wind up dead…..

Guerrero was in Maine and the United States illegally .
He and his buddy were breaking the law and failed to stop for the officers .
I do not feel bad for Guerrero .

There is a real question as to how much training they’ve had, and how much training they need. If people are being put in the field before they’re ready, that is an issue and it isn’t fair to them to do this, either.

They are making stupid mistakes by getting in each other’s field of fire, which they don’t wanna do because friendly fire isn’t friendly.

How about giving ICE a call when a detaining subject that appears to be a foreigner. ICE will come over, run some checks, and arrest and deport if determined to be illegal. A hell of a lot safer than going out in the field and having to dodge motor vehicles.

You can thank Chucky Schumer for his prolonged government shut down that’s caused the delay for those body cams. That was part 2 of the big beautiful bill funding for body cams that the democrats kept the government shut down because this is what they hoped would happen.
Democrats wants the illegals here so they will vote for democrats.

Mayor -body cameras are not in charge of your Town.
Why don’t your police have a working relationship with ICE?
Why was ICE in your Town without BPD knowing about it?
Biddeford has gone from skilled factory labor force to a house keeping unskilled labor force. Why? Body cameras!

What a shocker he was here illegally.

The question is was it catholic charity’s of Maine who issued his false work permit along with a false SSN?
Interesting question!

“Following a private meeting at Biddeford City Hall with Mayor Liam LaFontaine, House Speaker Ryan Fecteau, members of the local legislative delegation and a representative of the Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition, Mills said her purpose was to express condolences and support a community struggling to process the deadly encounter.’
So this is how the Democratic leadership keeps it all in the open for the public to see. Liars, what are you hiding?

Title is
Fox News – Tom Homan : I am scared to DEATH.

Fox News on YouTube had Tom Homan on and was asked if he was here illegally how did he obtain a work permit?
Homan response was priceless “I don’t know I am asking the same question I am gonna find out”.

What would be priceless if it was a Maine politician who authorized it oops I mean issued a fake work permit. Who ever issued it this ought to be interesting to find out.

Well  Chucky Schumer  who said they will shut down the government over Military funding has now added that if ICE is not disbanded and the people from the President to members of Congress who supported funding them are exposed and punished the government will not be funded.
