The Sanford Police Department arrested a man on Monday after he allegedly tried to run someone over near the town’s Central Park.

At approximately 8:56 p.m., the Sanford Police responded to the area of Central Park for a report of an alleged attempt by Zaharias Iliadis, 47, of Sanford, to run someone over during a verbal altercation.
Officers interviewed witnesses and the parties involved and developed probable cause to take Iliadis into custody.
He was arrested and charged with reckless conduct and violating conditions of release.
He was held without bail.
Iliadis was previously arrested in June of last year and charged with refusing to submit to arrest or detention, harassment by telephone, and stalking.
